The SAEON Overview for 2004 - 2006 maps out the significant milestones that the Network has reached over the past two years.

An upmarket publication that provides an overview of SAEON for the two-year period from April 2004 to March this year – a critical period in the Network’s development – has just been published. The Overview also marks the end of the first term of office of SAEON’s Advisory Board and Technical Steering Committee.

SAEON has grown organically and exponentially in the period under review. Two new nodes were established - the SAEON Ndlovu Node for the savannah biome, and the SAEON Elwandle Node for the coastal-inshore system.

The publication also covers the three pillars of SAEON’s work as described in its mandate – observation, information and education – which were successfully established, as well as the inaugural SAEON Summit, held in March 2006, which provided an overview of the current state of observation systems and technology.
