SAEON is proud to announce the publication of its Core Science Framework compiled by Prof Tim O’Connor, SAEON’s Observation Science Specialist, with input from a range of SAEON stakeholders, internal as well as external.

In his Foreword Johan Pauw, Managing Director of SAEON says that the framework document stems from the need for SAEON and its partners to clarify the organisation’s scientific approach across the spectrum of disciplines and ecosystems. He describes the document as a “guiding and high-level statement by SAEON at this early stage of its development”.

The framework of the Core Science Plan is intended to provide momentum and substance to the wide-ranging long-term environmental research and monitoring programmes that have been and are still being developed by SAEON and its partners.

The document is expected to serve as a useful reference to research leaders and funders in their decision making as it sets priorities for a question-driven approach to environmental change monitoring and research in complex systems. Prospective research students and partnering researchers will also be able to contextualise and motivate their research work by referring to this document.

An electronic version of the document is available on the SAEON website.
