An article titled "Research visit - rehabilitation of mine dumps", published on the Stellenbosch University website, reports on a visit by Dr Paul Hills and Mr Jacob Rossouw from the Institute for Plant Biotechnology (IPB) to the offices of SAEON's Ndlovu Node as part of an ongoing collaborative project between the IPB and SAEON. The joint project focuses on plant stress physiology and rehabilitation for the South African mining sector.

The article outlines Tshililo Ramaswaela's career prospects and what attracted him to choose his field of specialisation - invasive alien species. Tshililo is a Field Technician at SAEON's Arid Lands Node in Kimberley.

The appointment of Wim Hugo, SAEON's Chief Data and Information Officer, to the Scientific Committee of the World Data System for a three-year period commencing on 1 July 2015, was announced in the ICSU World Data System newsletter. The Scientific Committee is chosen by the Executive Board of the International Council for Science (ICSU).
