A study by Dr Jasper Slingsby, Vegetation Scientist at the SAEON Fynbos Node, found the first evidence of a climate change impact on Fynbos biodiversity (Image courtesy of Otto Whitehead)

An article by Dr Jasper Slingsby, Vegetation Scientist at the SAEON Fynbos Node, was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). The article essentially finds the first evidence of a climate change impact on Fynbos biodiversity, but also highlights an interaction between fire and climate change that is concern for flammable ecosystems around the world (e.g. California's chaparral, Australia's kwongan, etc). Dr Slingsby also co-authored the following publication:

le Roux, M. Marianne, Paul Wilkin, Kevin Balkwill, J. Stephen Boatwright, Benny Bytebier, Denis Filer, Cornelia Klak, Ronell R. Klopper, Marinda Koekemoer, Laurence Livermore, Roy Lubke, Anthony R. Magee, John C. Manning, Alan Paton, Tim Pearce, Jasper Slingsby, Ben-Erik van Wyk, Janine E. Victor, and Lize von Staden. 2017. Producing a plant diversity portal for South Africa. Taxon.
